This extension to the Colca Canyon Trek allows travelers to spend 2 days in Arequipa before departing to the Colca Canyon Trek. Arequipa is perfect to start adjusting to the high elevation of places like Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, Cusco, and Machu Picchu. This city has a unique downtown with several Colonial constructions such as the Monastery of Santa Catalina.

Upon your arrival to Arequipa’s airport, we will drive you to your hotel in downtown. You will be picked up from your hotel at about 2:00p.m. to start a guided city tour, which will include a visit to the Monastery of Santa Catalina, founded in 1580; the Main Square; the Cathedral, founded in 1656, and its museum; as well as the San Ignacio Church.
After your guided city tour, you will enjoy dinner at Chicha and after dinner you will stay overnight at your hotel.
At 7:00am breakfast will be served at your hotel and at 8:30am you will be taken to the Sabandia Mill and the Mansion of the Founder. These are two colonial sites perfectly maintained and surrounded by farms in the suburbs of Arequipa. After touring these two sites, you will enjoy at lunch at La Nueva Palomino, a traditional restaurant known which are locally known as Picanterias. This restaurant is located in the traditional district of Yanahuara and after lunch you will have time to walk around this traditional district.
After touring the traditional district of Yanahuara, you will be taken back to your hotel where you will have time to relax or wonder around downtown. At 7:00pm, you will enjoy dinner at Salamanto restaurant.
After breakfast, you will continue with the Colca Canyon trek.
