When coming to Peru, travelers should be aware that a visit to Machu Picchu is more than the Inca site itslef. The legacy of the Incas is still alive in many Andean communities around Peru, and travelers can experience their ancient customs and practices. This 2 day excursion to Machu Picchu will also take travelers to an endemic wildlife sanctuary, the Andean community of Paru Paru to learn their way of living, and the impressive Inca site of Pisaq. Food will be one of the highlights of this tour.

At 7:00am, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to start your adventure to Machu Picchu. The first stop will be the Ccochahuasi Sanctuary where you will be able to observe several species of wild animals which have been rescued, from poor living conditions or injuries, to help them heal, and later on released them into their natural habitat once ready. After this visit, your transportation will take you to the Andean Community of Paru Paru. This Andean Community still practices milenary customs. During your visit to the Quispe family you will learn about the process of making textiles from the scratch. This visit will also take you to one of the lakes that provide water and trouts to locals. Lunch will be served here.
After lunch, you will be taken to the archaeological Inca site of Pisaq where you will learn more about the Andean way of living and the Incas. Once your guided tour of the site is over, you will be taken to Ollantaytambo where you will take the Expedition train to Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu town. Once in Aguas Calientes, you will check-in at your hotel and a pizza will be delivered to your room with a soft drink.
After breakfast, you will take a bus to the entrance gate to Machu Picchu. Once in Machu Picchu, your guide will take you to the Gate of the Sun, and the most important temples and rooms of Machu Picchu. This guided tour will take about 4 hours.
After your tour, you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes from where you will take the Expedition train to Ollantaytambo. In Aguas Calientes you will enjoy a buffet style lunch before taking the train. Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, you will be driven to your hotel in Cusco.
